Is it possible to use Material Design Kit 3 also, instead of Material Design 2?

From what I remember the material design components v3 were changed quite a bit from v2; we actually wrap the mdc components into our web components as v2 mwc components had a very annoying hard coded dependency with online google fonts.
We need to find some time to look at where v3 currently is and ideally we would move to mwc v3.
None of this is a simple switch over though unfortunately.
