Correct approach to use the platform

Dears,
please advise what is the right approach to use the platform:

  • there will be several companies (maybe +50 in the future) using the platform
  • each company has around 5 users, with possibility for self registration
  • each company has to have access only to their assets
  • assets (devices) meant to be with auto-provisioning, maybe around 10 per each company

Scenario 1.

  1. the platform admin creates realm =company_name
  2. all devices that received by company are coded to link to the realm =company_name
  3. once a device is “On”, it is auto provisioned to a right realm to a right company

Scenario 2.

  1. all assets are auto provisioned to the one realm
  2. the platform admin gives an access to a specific asset through user’s role

what is the best practice here? i see some bottlenecks in both scenarios especially creating realms or assigning roles to users manually and coding for auto-provisioning each device separately

Hi RRR, looking at the brief description. Both scenario’s are possible. If your growth path is 50 x 10 devices, I don’t think there is an issue just using a single realm and restricted users, or at least start with that. Sounds to me that even manual configuration is also not too much of a problem with maybe 500 devices in the future. The benefit would be that each device is configured the same (same realm). Over time you can still decide to spilt companies over realms.
